Effective 6 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and AZ Smart Studios LLC ("we", "us") for the Aureloo app and the aureloo.com website. By using Aureloo, you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
We have kept this short. We would rather you read it than skip it.
What is new in this version. Aureloo 1.1 lets you send things to friends, use promo codes and invite friends. Sections 4, 7 and 8 are the rules for those. An account made with an email address and a password now also confirms that address; see section 1. If you already had an account, the app shows you a notice about this the first time you open version 1.1. This version also covers Aureloo on iPhone, where you can sign in with Apple and Pro is sold through the App Store; see sections 1 and 6.
1. What you may do
Use Aureloo on your own devices, for as long as you like, for learning. Study, practise, create your own word collections and folders, and send them to your friends.
Aureloo requires an account: you sign in before you can use the app. The account is yours — please do not share it. If you sign up with an email address and a password, it has to be a real address that you control: Firebase Authentication emails a link to it, and you can use the app once you have opened that link. A sign-in with Google, or with Apple on an iPhone, needs no link. An account made before version 1.1 whose address was never confirmed cannot be used until it is.
2. What you may not do
Please do not:
- copy, resell, rent or redistribute the app or its content packs;
- take it apart to extract its content or work around the Pro features;
- use it to break the law, or to upload content you have no right to use;
- send another person offensive or unwanted content, or use an offensive nickname — see section 4;
- cheat the invite programme or trade in promo codes — see sections 7 and 8;
- attack, overload or interfere with the service, or try to reach other people's data.
If you do any of these, we may end your access. Where the problem is minor and fixable, we will tell you first.
3. Your content is yours
The words, folders, notes and collections you create belong to you. We claim no ownership of them and no licence to use them.
We also do not hold them: they live on your device, and — if you turn on sync — in your own Google Drive. We cannot read them there, and we could not hand them over to anyone even if asked. The one exception is something you choose to send to a friend: you ask us to carry it, so a copy rests on our server until your friend accepts or declines it, and we may read it if it is reported. We use it for nothing else. See the privacy policy.
Keeping a second copy is your responsibility. Because your data is on your device, losing or resetting the device loses the data. Google Drive sync, which you connect in Profile, is the way to keep it safe; we recommend using it. We cannot recover anything for you, because we have no copy.
4. Sending to a friend, and nicknames
You can send one of your folders, a category or a grammar rule you wrote to another Aureloo account, addressed by its nickname. To send or to be sent anything you choose a nickname of your own. Sending is free, within limits: at most ten items a day, and at most 1,000 words and 900 KB of data in one item. Accepting what a friend sends is part of Pro.
What you send, and the nickname you choose, are your responsibility. Do not send, and do not use as a nickname, anything that is offensive, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit or unlawful, or that you have no right to share. Do not send things to people who do not want them. A nickname is also checked automatically against a short list of offensive words; passing that check does not make a name acceptable.
Everyone who is sent an item can decline it, block its sender and report it, and can stop receiving altogether with Accept shared items in Profile. A report sends us a copy of the item, and a person reviews it. We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users: we review every report within 24 hours, remove content that breaks these rules and stop senders who do it from sending. We may also reset an offensive nickname — the account can choose another, but a name we reset cannot be taken again. In serious cases section 13 applies as well.
An item that is neither accepted nor declined expires 24 hours after it was sent, and our server then erases it, normally within a further day. Once a friend has accepted an item it is theirs: the words become part of their own collection, and deleting your copy, or your account, does not take them back.
5. Our content is ours
Aureloo itself — the software, its design, its name, its logo, and the word and grammar packs we supply — belongs to AZ Smart Studios LLC or its licensors. Using the app does not transfer any of that to you.
Some parts are made by other people under their own open licences, and those licences travel with them. The Phosphor icon set is used under the MIT licence.
6. Free and Pro
Aureloo has a free version and a paid version called Pro. The free version is genuinely usable, not a countdown to a wall.
Pro is sold through Google Play on Android and through Apple's App Store on iPhone. The store sells it to you and processes the payment, and its own terms cover the payment itself. Whatever you are shown at the moment of purchase — the price, what is included, and the billing period — is what applies to that purchase.
Pro comes in three plans. Monthly and yearly are subscriptions: each renews automatically at the end of its period until you cancel it. Cancel any time in Google Play → Subscriptions, or on an iPhone in Settings → your name → Subscriptions; you keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for. Lifetime is a one-time purchase: you pay once, and nothing renews. Refunds are handled by Google under Google Play's refund policy, or by Apple under the App Store's, and your local consumer law may also give you cancellation rights — nothing here removes those.
Pro belongs to the Aureloo account it was bought on. Sign in to that account on another phone and Pro is there too; restoring purchases cannot move it to a different Aureloo account. Deleting your account or uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription — only the store you bought it from can.
We may change what Pro costs or what it includes for new purchases. We will not retroactively take away something you have already paid for during a period you have paid for. If we make a significant change to an active subscription, we will tell you before it takes effect so you can cancel.
Pro can also be given without a purchase, through a promo code or the invite programme. Sections 7 and 8 cover that. Gift Pro costs nothing, does not renew, and ends by itself.
7. Promo codes
A promo code gives the account that enters it Pro for the period the code carries — one month, three months, one year, or for life — with no payment, no card and no renewal. You enter it in the app, under Have a promo code? on the Pro screen.
Promo codes are gifts. They are not for sale: we do not sell them, they have no cash value, and they cannot be exchanged for money or for anything else. Please do not buy or sell them.
- A code works once for each account. Some codes are for a single account; others can be used by a limited number of accounts and have an end date.
- A code cannot be used on an account that already has paid Pro or Pro for life. In that case the code is not used up.
- If the account already has gift Pro with time left, the new period is added after it.
- When the period ends, the account goes back to the free plan by itself. Nothing is charged at any point.
- After five wrong tries in an hour, the field stops taking codes until the hour is up.
- We may switch a code off, or let it reach its end date, before it has been used.
8. Inviting friends
Every account can have an invite code and a link that carries it. You share them yourself — through your phone's share sheet, or by copying the code — with people you know.
A friend counts when all of the following are true:
- they made a new Aureloo account, and accepted your invitation within 7 days of making it — by installing from your link on Android, or by typing your code where promo codes go, which on an iPhone is the only way;
- that account had not been invited before. An account can be invited once, and nobody can invite themselves;
- within 14 days of accepting, they practised on 3 different days. A day counts when a practice test or a game round is finished, and days are told apart by the server's calendar (UTC);
- they sign in with Google, or with an email address that is confirmed. A Google sign-in always meets this, and so does an account that has confirmed its address through the link (section 1);
- their phone has not been used for an invitation by another account before — as an invited friend or as an inviter — and is not a phone you have used yourself. One phone counts once, for the first account that shows it.
A friend who does not meet these shows as "not counted" on your invite page. We do not say which condition was missed, because that would be a guide to cheating.
The rewards go to the person who invited. The invited friend receives nothing.
- At 3, 6 and 9 counted friends: one month of Pro each time, three months at most.
- At 20 counted friends: one year of Pro, on top of the months.
- Friends 10 to 19, and any after the 20th, bring no further reward.
A reward is gift Pro, as in section 7: no payment and no renewal. It starts when it is earned, or — if you already have gift Pro with time left — when that ends. It is not added to a paid subscription: if you already pay for Pro, the reward period runs alongside it, and carries on if you cancel. An account that has Pro for life earns no reward, because there is nothing to add.
Abuse. The programme is for inviting real people. Fake or duplicate accounts, inviting yourself through a second account or phone, automated installs, and paying or pressing people to install do not count, and we may withdraw a reward that was obtained that way; the part of it not yet used is removed. Where the rules have wrongly left a real friend out, we may count that friend by hand. We may change the programme or end it for the future.
Deleting your account ends your part in the programme. The code in links you have already shared stops working, and rewards not yet granted are lost.
9. Changes to the app
We will keep improving Aureloo, which means features can change. If we need to remove something significant, we will say so in advance where we reasonably can.
We may stop offering the service. If we ever do, we will give at least 30 days' notice in the app, and we will not take payments for a period we cannot deliver.
10. What we promise, and what we do not
We work hard to make Aureloo accurate and reliable, but we provide it "as is". We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every translation and grammar explanation is perfect. Language teaching involves judgement, and mistakes are possible — if you find one, please tell us.
Aureloo is a study aid. It is not certified instruction, and we do not promise you will reach any particular level.
Some of what the app can do depends on your phone rather than on us: speech recognition and text-to-speech are provided by your device, Google Drive sync depends on Google, and Sign in with Apple depends on Apple. If those are unavailable on your device, the affected features may not work. Reminders are shown by your phone's system, which may delay them, and not at all while notifications are off. Sending to a friend, promo codes and invitations need a connection and our server, and may be unavailable from time to time.
11. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for words you lose because they were on one phone only. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim — or, if you have paid us nothing, to USD 50.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited: death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your rights as a consumer under the mandatory law of your country. If you are a consumer, you keep every right your local law gives you.
12. Age
Aureloo is a general-audience app with no age restriction, and we do not verify age. If you are under 18, please use it with a parent or guardian's knowledge. If you are under the age at which you can agree to terms on your own where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
13. Ending the agreement
You can stop at any time: delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account) or ask us to delete it, and uninstall the app — see deleting your account. If you have a subscription, cancel it as well, in Google Play or in your Apple Account settings.
We may suspend or end your access if you break section 2 or section 4, or if we are legally required to. Except in serious cases, we will give you notice and a chance to put things right.
14. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, United States, and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in the EU, the UK or elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of your own country's mandatory law, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
15. Odds and ends
If a clause turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. If we do not enforce something immediately, we have not given up the right to. These terms, the privacy policy and, if you installed Aureloo from Apple's App Store, Apple's standard licence agreement for apps are the whole agreement between us.
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the last change, and we will tell you in the app before a significant change takes effect: the version of the app that brings the change shows a notice the first time you open it, with links to these terms and the privacy policy, before the app makes any of the new requests to our server.
